As you know, I just started riding last spring. I bought a Yamaha 250 Exciter to practice on. I had been oul all day with my SO, probably about 250 miles. Came around a sharp corner, or course I ws tired by this time. Looked at the telephone pole. Big mistake. You go where you look. Remembered this, looked away but not in time. I knew I would run out of tar. Soft sand coming right at me and I knew what that would do to my front tire. Braced myself for the fall. Full face helmet and leater were great. Took only a few seconds and it ws all over. Continued on down the road draggin the bike on my leg. When I finally came to a stop, I moaned. Then I thought, there's no one here, my SO still doesn't know I dumped, I better get myself up out of the road. Looked at my leg under the bike. Didn't feel broken. OK. Pulled it out. Turned my ankle. Nope, not broken. Got up, checked myself out. Very sore shoulder but no broken bones. This ws about the time my SO came roaring back. He was more scared than I was. He was worried about me. By this time I was crying "my bike, my bike". I had picked it back up by myself. Headlight crooked and back blinker broken. Took my bandana and tied up the bliker. Still worked.
Couldn't do much for the headlight until we got home. It worked, but didn't shine in the right direction. It was daylight anyways. My So wanted me to hop on the back of his bike and we would come home to get the truck. We were only about 1/2 hour away from home. I said no. I was riding it home. Asked him to take a spin to make sure everything was working correctly and it was. Drove the bike home. Part way home stopped at a stop sign and my SO pulled up beside me. He ws impressed. Didn't expect me to get back on. I gritted my teeth and said lets get home right away. The pain is starting. Got home. He told me to go take a hot shower or bath and he would fix the bike. Bike was fixed when I came back out. Sure is great having a boyfriend that can work on you bike! Boy was I bruised up. Black and purple on one leg for months. Sold the Yamaha for what I paid for it one month later and bought the Savage. Luckily I have not dumped. Knock on wood.
